I’ve always placed an emphasis on my career, I like the thought that I have one, and can “go places”, I mean, I’m in NYC, right ? But as you probably know, my experiences in NY so far have been mixed, there is the excitement of being here, mixed with the tedium of a day job that has to get done, mixed with emotions ranging from extreme happiness to extreme sadness, all-in-all an upside-down, round-about experience.

Next week it looks like I’ll be spending a couple of days with some senior architecty types in downtown NYC, which makes me kinda glad, hopefully it means I’ll get some exposure and learn some new stuff that I could never get back home. It sure looks like I’m going to need all the help I can get as there are rumors going around I may be put in a team lead role on a new project based in Queensland once I get back.

At the moment there isn’t much I’d rather do except direct my focus towards work and hopefully advance my career a bit. I only have 6 weeks or so left here, so its a shame that its only now that I’m really hitting my stride.

P.S. If anyone wants things from the US, now is the time to tell me! Please let me know, I don’t have gifts for anyone, as far as I can see, the same stuff is here as at home, but I could be wrong….
